





Week 7 - Summer Arts Camp

Our youngest artists will enjoy a week of exploring the nature of clay and experimenting with different techniques for shaping clay into a variety of forms. Kids will use their imagination to create ceramic artwork in this fun class! All work will be fired with food–safe glazes. Look for an email from the Phipps when the pottery is ready for pick up, approximately two weeks after camp. Closed–toed shoes must be worn in the ceramics studio.

Join us for a week creating characters and performing scenes and songs inspired by the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the musical Willy Wonka! This camp promises to create Charlie's delicious adventures on stage. Demonstration on the last day of camp!

The ocean creates a beautiful and fascinating habitat for a variety of creatures both in the water and outside. This camp will explore the beauty of the ocean and the living things that call it home. We will be inspired by artists while learning about coral reefs, ocean animals, and land animals that live near the water.

Get your hands dirty this summer! Learn about clay and the basic techniques of throwing pottery on the wheel. Create cups and bowls and experiment with different techniques for adding finishing touches to your work. All work will be fired with food–safe glazes. This week in camp, we will discover how sketching and painting work together. Kids will explore how sketching serves as a foundation for painting, experimenting with it as a key first step in the creative process. They’ll learn the basics of color mixing and try out various painting and drawing mediums and techniques to bring their ideas to life.

A Triple Threat in the theater can sing, act and dance. In this workshop, students will receive instruction in all three disciplines. In the showcase at the end of the week, students will perform short scenes, as well as sing and dance in musical numbers they that they have learned from Wicked Jr. for an audience.

Create cosplay props and accessories to transform yourself into your favorite character! This step–by–step camp will guide students through the process of using everyday materials and papier mâché to help create a fabulous costume. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, get messy, and learn some great papier mâché sculpture techniques!

Elevate your drawing skills and learn fundamental techniques for drawing the figure. In this week–long camp, we will introduce different tools for drawing the human form and encourage kids to develop their own style. We will also look at artists who have specialized in drawing the figure, for inspiration and insight into different approaches.

Learn to throw on the wheel for the first time or build the skills that you have already developed. This class will cover basic bowls and more advanced forms for students of all skill levels.
