





Week 3 - Summer Arts Camp

Marks that are BIG, marks that are small, young artists know how to use them all! With fun and fabulous picture books as our guide, we’ll explore the wonderful world of mark–making through music, movement and a new art medium every day.

Using characters from the popular Disney film Inside Out, students will explore ways to create characters and stories on stage. Demonstration last day of camp.

Does your camper love the animal world? Join us for this week of animal– themed art making! Animals have inspired artists since the first cave paintings, and we will let the patterns and textures of animals inspire us to create art in different media in this fun camp.

In this camp, kids will discover techniques for transforming paper from two–dimensional planes into three–dimensional creations. We will explore all the ways to play with paper–– cut, fold, crumble, wind, rip, and glue! From origami to paper clay, campers will explore a different form of paper art each day.

Do you have a dragon/unicorn/pegasus loving kid? This dance camp will be full of fun magical songs! Magical Creatures camp will incorporate jazz and hip–hop basics for a super FUN camp. On the last camp day, dancers will get to demonstrate some of their moves for family and friends and dress up in their favorite dragon, unicorn, rainbow or pegasus attire! Dress requirement: athletic clothing, ballet or jazz shoes recommended, but socks are ok too.

Explore the fun of making pottery with pinch, slab and coil techniques—no pottery wheel needed! Learn to build cups, plates and jars and then make them super special as you decorate them with colorful underglazes. All work is fired with food–safe glazes. Look for an email from the Phipps when the pottery is ready for pick up, approximately two weeks after camp. Closed–toed shoes must be worn in the ceramics studio.

Get your hands dirty this summer! Learn about clay and the basic techniques of throwing pottery on the wheel. Create cups and bowls and experiment with different techniques for adding finishing touches to your work. All work will be fired with food–safe glazes. Learn the basics of cinematography, storytelling, characters, video, and audio editing. Use those new skills to film your own original movie and share it on the last day of camp. Campers should bring a video recording device (cell phone, tablet, iPad). Limited devices are available from the instructor; please notify us in advance if you'd like to use one.

Discover the world of textile art! Campers will explore a variety of fiber art techniques, with projects tailored to their interests. From wet felting to weaving to fabric dyeing, each day offers hands–on opportunities to experiment, create, and learn. Perfect for kids who love to work with their hands and explore new materials!

Join us for this opportunity to experience the process of creating and performing on stage in a fun and supportive environment! Little Red and the Riding Hoods reimagines the classic fairy tale. Little Red is the leader of a rebellious motorcycle gang who clashes with the narrator who wants to keep the story strictly in line with the original version. There is lots of chaos and laughter as the modern and classic stories collide. Performance on the last day of camp!

This camp is a great way for dancers to learn fun new leaps and turns and to hone their skills. Katie brings her experience as a Hudson High School Raidaire dancer to help dancers find their balance and power. Dancers can take this camp both weeks offered, or just one week. Dress requirement: athletic clothing, turners or jazz shoes.

Whether you dream of capturing epic landscapes or striking portraits, this camp will help you with the skills and confidence to achieve your photographic goals. We can’t wait to see the incredible images you will create! Camp requirements: digital camera or cell phone with camera and laptop, tablet or Chromebook.
