Teens (13-17) - Summer Theatre Camps

Ten minute plays are fast gaining popularity in theatres, and in college and high school drama competitions. This new workshop gives students a chance to bring them to life on stage. Students will create props, costumes and sets and perform on the final day of class. This is a great opportunity to create small and large group scenework, as well as develop your stage presence in rehearsal and performance.

Learn the basics of cinematography, storytelling, characters, video, and audio editing. Use those new skills to film your own original movie and share it on the last day of camp. Campers should bring a video recording device (cell phone, tablet, iPad). Limited devices are available from the instructor; please notify us in advance if you'd like to use one.

Are you going to audition for your school shows? For the shows at the Phipps? Auditions can be scary and stressful. Come and learn ways to approach an audition with confidence and positivity in a supportive environment with an experienced actor and director. Students will work on tips and techniques for successful auditions and an individual monologue they can take with them at the end of camp.

Have a school audition coming up for a musical or choir? Ever wondered what is a good song to sing in an audition? Come to our Vocal Audition Workshop and learn tips and techniques for auditioning, choosing music and how to take care of your voice.

A camp designed for students who already have some experience with fundamental improv skills and are looking to expand their abilities in character, dialogue, stage presence and scene partnering. Demonstration of work on the last day of camp.

(Ages 8-14) Join us on Monday where we cast the show, then rehearse scenes, songs and dances all week. This musical adaptation of Disney’s beloved Finding Nemo tells the story of Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, living in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. This is a great opportunity to experience the process of creating and performing a musical in a fun and supportive environment. Performance on the last day of camp!

Students ready to deep dive into creating fully developed characters for the stage will love this camp experimenting with making bigger, more specific physical and acting choices and developing backstories for the characters you play onstage. Fascinating and fun, campers will share their work in a demonstration on the last day of camp.

An introduction to designing the sets, costumes, props, lights and sound that enhance the magic of every theatre experience. Each day students will explore and experiment using their own creative ideas alongside a professional Theatre Artist/Designer as they become the Design Crew for our FINDING NEMO kids performance workshop.

Have a great idea for a play? Already started working on one? This camp is for new and emerging playwrights. Come and learn the basics of writing scripts for the stage. Work in collaboration with teacher and fellow writers to hone your dialogue and character development. Finish the week with some stage–ready script material!

Join us as we explore the world of Wicked with this week full of music, dance and recreating scenes from the famous musicals that feature Oz-- Wicked, The Wizard of Oz and The Wiz! Whether performing in musicals is your favorite thing to do, or you think it might be the best thing you've ever tried, this is the camp for you! Students will learn to SING, DANCE & ACT using some of our favorite Broadway shows!
