Ballet technique classes are the foundation for training at the Phipps. Classes focus on developing solid ballet technique with emphasis on correct body placement, proper use of turn-out, coordination of the upper body, and use of the arms. Each class includes center exercises, barre work, and grand allegro combinations. Monday evening & Wednesday morning classes perform in recitals; Tuesday morning intermediate/advanced is technique only and may be taken as a full session or an 8-class punch card.

A fun, upbeat class that doesn't require any prior dance experience. Simple, repetitive choreography specific to each song, with movements that can be modified to the individual's level. The same set of songs and choreography is used throughout the session, so you can focus on getting your groove (and sweat) on!

These classes infuse methods of ballet, jazz, and modern, creating an artistic, fluid style of movement that encourages self-expression. The goal is to develop strong, versatile dancers. Dress: fitted dancewear, no jeans; bare feet or turners.

Jazz dance classes explore the energy, variety, and vitality of classic, musical theatre, and contemporary jazz styles, with warm-ups, progressions across the floor, and extended combinations. Dress: leotards and leggings or fitted dancewear, jazz shoes.

Explore Hatha yoga and somatic strength training for conditioning and resiliency. Supportive to all levels. Find steadiness and ease while learning to trust your body, protect your joints, increase core stabilization, and build strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Recommended: a sticky mat, strap, block, and blanket.

For both dancers and dancers at heart — improve power and flexibility through dynamic ballet-inspired combinations, bodyweight exercises, and deep stretching. Perfect for all fitness levels; no dance experience required. Recommended: a yoga mat and yoga block.

Whether you're new to tai chi or strengthening your practice, join certified instructor Mark Tomlinson for this gentle, low-impact class. Tai chi supports physical and mental well-being — improving balance, flexibility, body awareness, and overall health while helping reduce stress. All experience levels welcome; runs year-round and may be joined at any time.

Tap includes percussive exercises that increase control, coordination, and rhythm; across-the-floor work; and improvisation. Dress: athletic clothing (no jeans), tap shoes.
