With a gift of $50 or more, you become a Phipps Member — the heartbeat behind every standing ovation. Pledge $300 a year (monthly, quarterly, or annually) and you enter the Ruby Ring, a dedicated circle of steady donors that powers the future of the arts in our community and beyond.

More Ways to Give

  • Planned lifetime and estate gifts offer patrons and friends of the Phipps opportunities to perpetuate their interest in the arts and realize various advantages often available through thoughtful gift planning. Our goal is to serve your interests while advancing the mission of the Phipps. To date, there are more than 80 members of The Legacy Society who have established named endowments, made outright gifts of $5,000 or more for endowment, or informed the Phipps in writing of estate gifts for endowment.   • Lots of employers match their staff’s charitable giving, so your contribution to the Phipps could instantly be worth twice as much. Some companies match dollar-for-dollar, and a growing number will even turn your volunteer hours into cash support. Matching rules vary, so check in with your HR or payroll team to see if your workplace has a matching-gift program and how to submit a request.

  • The Phipps welcomes art supplies, costumes, props, and furniture donations from the community. These donations can help in productions and educational activities benefiting the arts community as a whole. If you have something to donate to the Phipps, begin the process by completing our in-kind donation form.

  • Do you have stocks you’ve owned for a year or more? You can donate them straight to the Phipps and avoid capital-gains tax. Just ask your broker to transfer the stock on your behalf and contact us to let us know the gift is on its way.

  • You can turn your IRA into art-fuel — and receive a tax break!

    Thanks to the permanent charitable IRA rollover, anyone 70½ or older can send up to $100,000 each calendar year straight from their IRA to the Phipps. Because the transfer goes directly from your plan administrator to us, the amount never counts as taxable income.

    Things to note:

    • You must be age 70½+ on the date of the gift.

    • Funds must move directly from your IRA custodian to the Phipps.

    • Total rollover gifts can’t exceed $100,000 per year and must be completed by December 31.

    If this sounds like a good fit, we recommend chatting with your tax advisor first to be sure it works for you (state rules can differ), then tell your IRA administrator you’d like to make a qualified charitable distribution to the Phipps Center for the Arts. We’ll take it from there!

  • Give the gift of time! Each year, hundreds of dedicated volunteers walk through our doors to play their role in helping the Phipps Center for the Arts thrive. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels give thousands of hours in support of the Phipps. Check out our Volunteer page for more info.

Benefits of Phipps Membership/Ruby Ring

If you donate $50 or more to the Phipps, you automatically become a Phipps Member. Phipps Membership is annual from the date of your gift. Two people in the same household will both be considered members. Please indicate member names when making your donation.

    • Eligibility to enter the annual Members’ Spotlight art exhibition
