Adaptive Dance is designed for youth and young adults with special needs.

The class will provide students the opportunity to express and learn in a creative, nurturing, and friendly environment. The goal of this class is to introduce students to the creative and expressive elements of dance while allowing self-expression and inspiring learning. The class will be interactive and involve fun activities such as circle time, stretching, sing-alongs, and creative movement. Students will work on independence, balance, self-confidence, and a love for music and movement. Parents and caregivers are invited to take part in the class.

Dress requirement: Comfortable clothing. No specific dance shoes required.

Children’s | Ages 8-12

  • Teen/adult adaptive dancers are welcome to take adaptive tap as an extension of their dance experience at the Phipps! This class will provide students with disabilities the opportunity to learn basic tap skills and rhythms.

    Class prerequisite: Enrollment in Adaptive Jazz.
    Dress requirement: comfortable clothing, tap shoes

    Teen/Adult | Ages 13+

  • This class is a great way to try out the style of lyrical dance. Dancers will learn a short routine that conveys emotion and storytelling through dance. The class will provide modifications that are inclusive to dancers with disabilities, but all dancers are welcome!
    All proceeds from this class will be used as a fundraiser for the Marcia Keegan Memorial Scholarship
