Level Up Your Love for Theater

Join the Guthrie Theater's Director of Community Engagement, Amanda White, for an introductory dive into what makes good theatre, and how to get the most out of a theatregoing experience. Love theatre, but not always sure what to look for when watching a play or musical? This relaxed, accessible series will give you a look into how theatre artists craft their work for you...a great audience! As part of the series, you will attend two productions at the Guthrie Theater-- Skeleton Crew and Little Shop of Horrors. Transportation is not provided.

Actor workshop

Actor's Workshop: Professional Scene Studies

Dates: Sundays, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 6/2*, 6/9
Time: 3–5 p.m. (*On 6/2, we will meet 10 a.m.–noon)
Fee: $180
Location: Music Room

Join actor, director, and teaching artist Amanda White in a weekly scene studies class to keep your work and skills fresh for auditions and performance. Designed for experienced actors, this series will allow for artists to work on 2-3 scenes with a partner, get feedback, and further develop creative and performance skills. Keep your actor muscles warm between gigs, or just stay in good practice. No prepared material is necessary prior to class start date. Instructor approval needed, email resume to lpomplas@thephipps.org before registering.

Violin Lessons

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year for ages 7 through adult.

Sarah N. Bertsch has taught violin and coached ensembles for over 20 years. Previous positions include Northwestern College, Wooddale School of music, Friendship School of Music, and Minnehaha Academy. She received her M.A. from St. John’s University and her B.A. from St. Olaf College.

Private Voice Lessons

Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the year for ages 7 through adult.

Margaret Jane Wray, a dramatic soprano with an international reputation, offers private voice lessons on Thursdays at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wis.
