Level up your pottery skills! Intermediate and Advanced students will learn more complex techniques to create forms such as plates, lidded jars, tea pots, pitchers, etc. Throughout the session there will be demonstrations from the instructor as well as one-on-one time to work through your own ideas. Additionally, students will learn how to fire an electric kiln by having the chance to participate in the loading with the guidance of the instructor. Students will also receive 8 hours of studio access per week to work on projects independently.

Open Studio gives experienced students the freedom to practice their wheel throwing and hand building skills independently. Participants must have taken an 8-week ceramics course at the Phipps within the last 3 years or get special permission from the Studio Manager before registration. No instruction will be provided during this 8-week session. Includes 10 hours of studio access per week, one 25lb bag of clay, access to pottery wheels, clay tools, glazes and kiln firing. Studio participants must sign up for time slots on a weekly basis (day, evening and weekend hours).

Curious about trying out the potter's wheel? This one-night workshop is the perfect place to start! Come solo, bring a partner or a group of friends for a creative evening together. You'll watch a wheel-throwing demo, then get hands-on time on the wheel with guidance from our instructor. Choose your favorite glaze color, and we'll finish and fire your piece for pick-up 2–3 weeks later. All materials are provided, plus you'll get a drink voucher to enjoy during the class.

Make one-of-a-kind hanging ornaments and unique holiday mugs with the young artist in your life! Learn basic hand-building techniques as you design, build, and decorate. (Adult and child register separately.)

A festive drop-in event to design and create holiday clay ornaments with stamps, texture tools, and cookie cutters, then paint with colorful underglazes. Fired and ready to pick up before Christmas.
