with the River City Symphony Orchestra
The River City Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Mel Olson, will also perform two other popular Mozart works, the overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Symphony #40. The program will conclude with the Requiem, directed by Thomas Dahle. The rehearsal accompanist is Heather Tank.
The Phipps Choral Society was founded in 1981 by Marilyn Bradley and the late Rev. Merlin Bradley. It was formed as a community chorus dedicated to the performance of major choral-orchestral works from the oratorio genre and similar formats. It was founded as The St. Croix Valley Oratorio Society. Upon association with The Phipps Center, the name was changed to The Phipps Oratorio Society. In recent years the name was changed to reflect the broader spectrum of music being performed, while still adhering to the original purpose of rehearsing and performing great music from the classical and traditional repertoire for chorus and orchestra.
Members of the Choral Society come from many communities throughout the St. Croix Valley:
Aurora Anderson, Laura Church, Sarah Good, John Gryzbek, and Don Lundequam of St. Paul; Denise Martineau of Champlin; Julie Cambronne of Maplewood; Marcy Flotten of White Bear Lake; Janell Newton of Lake Elmo; Gail Miller of Oakdale; Tom Rusterholz of Woodbury; Mary Lou Clymer of Afton; Elvia Antonson, Randy Bach, Gail Parazino Huser, Joanna Schneider, and John Work of Stillwater.

Bunch of Ellsworth; Elizabeth Bonderson, Sandy Brace, Lee Engebreth, George Hansen, Becky Kleager, Dean Loney, Kelly Richison, David Rusterholz, and Gina Skule of River Falls; Gloria Gillette of Houlton; Andrea Adornato, Nancy Burman, Carol Dahle, Adele Dolan, Brett Easler, Jean Eelma, Lori Finnegan, Chuck Giffen, Skip Jewett, Janet Kay, Don Klassen, Sandy Luedke, Lisa Martineau, Tom Oscanyan, Bobbi Pominville, Cheryl Richardson, Veronica Stine, Chris Tank, and Monica Weekes of Hudson.
The River City Symphony Orchestra is an outgrowth of Hudson High School’s annual Home for the Holidays concerts.
