Event Description

I have always defined myself with labels, and as I turned 40, I found myself lost. I defined myself with the labels ‘wife’ and ‘at home mother’. I felt soulless and stuck. What would happen if I changed my self-imposed labels? What if I was just Anne? This group of paintings is a pictorial timeline for the self-examination I have been going through for the last 15 years. I find myself going from pieces to peace, from birth to rebirth and birthing, again, as I form my identity for life yet to come.

Anne Kramer graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in Fashion Design. After working for several years in the fashion industry, Kramer found her passion for painting. In 2014 she attended the Women’s Art Institute at St. Catherine University where she developed her art practice to include stitching on her canvases. In 2015 she was a protégée in the WARM Mentorship program. She has been in group shows around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and taught abstract painting at White Bear Center for the Arts.
